Our House, Before and After
When we moved into our current house we definitely did not pick it due to it's curb appeal. The inside is lovely, but the outside was sort of a train wreak. Shortly after moving in, we fixed the foundation planting to what we have now.
We didn't care for the color of the brick (orange) or the trim color (butter yellow). Last week we finally got our house painted. I love the new colors and think our plants pop really well against the dark color.
The back of the house needed to be painted the most. It get the direct sun all afternoon and it really did a number on the old paint job.
Now we just need to pick out new colors for our front and back doors...I'm voting for some sort of a blue, the other two human members of the household are thinking an apple green and pink. One of those members also keeps suggesting hot dogs as Christmas gifts for our family members, so pretty sure she won't be making any important decisions, but you never know.
Hopefully we'll be getting ours painted this January or February! It needs it. Yours looks lovely! :)
ReplyDeleteThanks! The wooden parts of the house really needed it.
DeleteWow, what a stunning difference. The new color is so rich and, as you said, the plants really pop against it. As for pink doors and hot dog Christmas gifts I say why not start a new tradition? Chartreuse doors would certainly stand out.
ReplyDeleteWe did make pigs in a blankets as part of Christmas dinner last year. It isn't too much of a stretch to start passing them out as gifts.
DeleteThe plants DO pop now! I think it's wonderful that you engage the youngest member of your household in decision-making, even if you take her recommendations with a grain of salt. As I'm struggle to come up with suitable Christmas gift ideas this year, though, the notion of handing out packages of hot dogs has a certain appeal...
ReplyDeleteThey would be memorable gifts!
DeleteA big difference. It looks so modern now.
ReplyDeleteThanks for saying that! We had a discussion about how we wanted to modernize it's look, since it was so dated before.
DeleteI LOVE the new paint job! As for doors, since mine is apple green you know what I’d vote for...
ReplyDeleteWe love that color too. The kitchens at both of our old houses were a nice apple green. This house has a green hallway.
DeleteNew foundation planting looks so much better!
ReplyDeleteYou have really improved the appearance of your house. Great color choice.
ReplyDeleteI change the color of my front door every year. Sounds crazy but the previous owner found it in a pile of junk and decided it would add character...really? She built a brand new house and added a rotten front door! My husband won't buy a new one because our dog Scooter scratches to get in. It won't hold paint because it is dry rotted so every spring I pick a new color. It is fun trying different colors. I might go with apple green this year.

Still no color decisions made, maybe this spring.
DeleteNo rush. It looks wonderful
