Blue Moon Gardens

Way back in September last year we took a camping trip that nearly got rained out.  In order to give ourselves a break from the weather, we took a little day trip off to Blue Moon Gardens in Chandler, TX.  Luckily when we arrived, there was no rain and it was almost sunny.

If you've ever been here, you know how cute this place is.  If you haven't, you should stop by if you are ever in the area.

Its a really cute garden center, and event has a fiber arts studio on site.  I've been here a few times and have always enjoyed the selection of plants.  Good quality, lots of variety, and some "different" items to keep it interesting.

One of the best things I saw on this excursion were the swallowtail caterpillars.  They were annihilating the pipevine.  The plants (what little was left) were covered in them.  You can read more about this plant here.  It's a great one, though we don't have the best luck with it.

They also have some really fun art located throughout the garden space.

They have a few spaces that lead me to believe that they also do events, but there isn't anything on their website.

I really wish this garden center was closer, but at over two hours away it definitely isn't a regular one for us.  Luckily on this camping trip, it was a perfect way to get out of the rain.

  1. A stop in a nursery or garden center improves any outing in my book!

  2. I agree with Kris. Always wondered what a TX nursery selection would look like. I know you said this one is above the fray, but it was fun to see all those beautiful succulents, which for the most part would not be hardy up here in the PNW.

    1. Many of them aren't hardy here, but some are. Part of what makes this nursery great is it's charm.
