Compost Makes For Some Good Eating
We are lucky enough to live in a city that allows chickens. Well actually we researched the city ordinances and made sure we bought a house where backyard poultry was a legal option. Our hens lead a pretty good life, complete with lots of treats, a roomy chicken run/coop, and lots of yard time.
Today during some yard time, the chickens discovered the compost pile. They had a really good time digging and eating all afternoon. Too bad they won't be able to get to it once the vegetable garden gets planted. Chickens and tender seedlings are not a good match.
Wow! Our chickens like compost as well. In fact, they treat it like a gourmet restaurant. How many chickens do you have?

Right now we have twelve adult hens and five babies. Our city's laws are pretty loose when it comes to backyard poultry. We can legally have 24 birds, two of which can be roosters. What kinds of chickens do you have?
