Autumn in the Arboretum 2018

We try to make it over the the Dallas Arboretum to see their fall displays each year.  Last weekend we managed to make it over between rainy days.  I'm not going to walk you through our visit, but I will say that the Arboretum knows how to do fall.  There are about a gazillion pumpkins, squash and gourds.  They are terribly creative.  If you live in the area, you should go.

  1. The Arboretum looks so festive all decked out for autumn! Love all the creative pumpkin/squash creations. Oh, what fabulous agaves too. The picture of father and daughter in the alee is very sweet. Autumn has definitely arrived in your neck of the woods!

    1. I really enjoy the creativity with the pumpkins and squashes. It always gives me fabulous ideas for our house (that I typically can't afford due to the number for pumpkins needed...hey a girl can dream). Autumn has arrived!

  2. I've recently visited 2 SoCal arboretums and I can resolutely state that your Dallas Arboretum does fall better! I love that shot of the agaves with the fountain in the distance.

  3. I love all of the pumpkins!

I have to admit, I have never been impressed with the Dallas Arboretum. It feels, well, bland. I mean, pumpkin display aside!

    1. That is actually a really good way to describe it. They don't tend to take any risks or use plants that are "amazing" or really different. We try to visit the pumpkins and the 12 days of Christmas every year and some years we make it out to see the bulb display. I like the new Tasteful Place because it does a great job of showcasing a veggie garden that is really attractive, something I don't think all people realize a veggie garden can be...and they have yummy food samples.

  4. Love the pumpkin/squash vibe. That koi looks like mermaid in the water, almost unreal.

    1. I love all the pumpkins with the tropicals and brightly colored annuals. It's totally Texas Fall. The Plant Geek used to work here and that was his favorite Koi. It was a lucky shot, but it's almost like it posed for the camera.
