Fireworks in the Garden: Happy Fourth of July

I hope everyone is having a great Fourth of July.  We live within city limits, so the only fire works are these Crimun (unknown variegated).

I think their flowers sort of look like fireworks exploding in the sky.

Growing up we typically spent the day gardening.  Our town did their fireworks show later in the summer.

Now we have family and friends over for a BBQ style potluck and swimming in the pool.  We have a great location, just a few blocks from where the city has their big fireworks celebration.  Shortly before it gets dark we all walk up the street with chairs and coolers and listen the the tail end of the concert in the park and watch the city firework show.

Hope you are spending your day however you choose!  Happy Fourth of July!

  3. Your flowers do look like fireworks! There is a downside to living where fireworks are legal, you can't sleep because they boom all night long. I don't mind. It only happens twice a year, 4th of July and New Years.

    1. They are illegal in our city on top of their being a burn ban in place this year, so we don't have too many going off outside of all the city run shows.

  4. Your fireworks are gorgeous and much quieter than the noisy things. While we live in the city where fireworks are illegal, they're still set off for days before and after the fourth. Lots of kids do drive-by sorts of things & car alarms go off. Yikes! Your celebration sounds like a lot more fun!

    1. Its too bad you get so many illegal fireworks. Strangely we don't have too many in our neighborhood in the summer, there are some at New Years though.
