Some 2018 Seedlings

Here are a few of the seedlings that have bloomed this year.  These plants are about two years old.  Sadly, I can't tell you what crosses they are from because our computer (with the spreadsheet on it) died a while ago.  Getting it fixed is on the to do list, but for now, we're just enjoying these cheerful blooms.

  1. Very exciting to see your seedlings bloom for the first time!

  2. Those are nice, especially the last one, with the ruffly edges and the wide "eye", and the Spider fifth one down--dramatic!

I tried some crosses one year, for fun. I did Apollodorus as the pollen parent for everything and got purple in almost every case, though the size and shape tended to strongly resemble the seed parent and the low bud count of Apollodorus unfortunately dominated as well. It gave provided a vague idea and appreciation of how hybridizers work, so it was educational.

    1. We think a lot of these were a 'Turtle Whiskers' cross. That spider is a favorite in our house right now. We hope it gets a little bit bigger next year. It is definitely not being composted like a few of the others that aren't pictured. I can sum most of them up in: the world has enough peachy colored daylilies with red eyes.
